God is Our Stability
Stability is defined as being firmly fixed, not likely to move or change, continuing in a regular and successful way without unexpected changes, grounded, firmness, solidity, steadiness, security, strength, assurance, steadfastness, and perseverance.
Stability is hard to come by these days. We are surrounded by uncertainty and unrest in our lives, country, and world. Today looks different from yesterday. Last year looks different than this one. There is constant change, and it’s hard to feel secure and stable.
But God has provided us with stability. Despite the unrest or instability in the world or in our own personal lives, God is in control. He never wavers and he is always providing stability.
Ephesians 3:16-17 says, “I pray that he may grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power in your inner being through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love…” (CSB). James 1: 17 calls God the “Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (CSB)
Not only does God provide us with a love that we can be rooted in, but that will never change because God never changes. Because of what Christ has done for us we have become rooted in God’s love. But we must grow in them. We must nurture our understanding of God’s love to see it spread, just like a root system spreads. The stronger the roots, the more stable a plant is. God has provided you with strong roots. His love. You only must accept that love and live in it.
He is our stability.
